New Introduction to Hydrogen Safety for First
Responders course now available
The Department of Energy Hydrogen Program is happy to announce
the launch of the "Introduction to Hydrogen Safety for First Responders".
This web-based course is intended to provide an "awareness
level" overview of hydrogen to fire, law enforcement, and emergency medical
personnel.
During the summer of 2007, we invited representatives of the hydrogen and
emergency response communities to preview the course modules and provide
comments. We received an excellent response, with more than one hundred
individuals participating and providing very constructive feedback. The
insights, perspective, and expertise of these reviewers helped us to refine the
original materials into a more comprehensive and precise final product.
The Introduction to Hydrogen Safety for First
Responders
is now available through the DOE Hydrogen Program Web site at
www.hydrogen.energy.gov/firstresponders.
Versions of the tutorial, in print or on CD, will soon be
available through the DOE/Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Information
Center by calling 877-EERE-INF (877-337-3463). Please feel free to forward and
distribute this information to any interested or relevant parties engaged in
ensuring public safety.
Promoting safety and providing accurate information to emergency personnel are
critical to all of us working to advance the use of hydrogen. We appreciate your
time and your contribution to this process.
Sincerely,
Bret Akers, Hydrogen Safety Program Manager
